A village cricket club in the heart of rural Norfolk, our 1st team play on Saturdays in Division 4 of the Norfolk Alliance having won Division 1 of the Norfolk League in 2009. Our 2nd team play in Division 6 of the Norfolk Leaguewhilst for the first time, the 2010 season will see a third Saturday side play in Division 8 of the Norfolk League. On Sundays, our 1st team play in the Peter Parfitt Division 3 with our Sunday 2nd team playing in the Alf Mace Division 4 of the expanding Mid Norfolk Sunday League. We endeavour that those who don't play on a Saturday should play on a Sunday, thus guaranteeing that every member gets a game of cricket at the weekend.
During the season, we hold outdoor net practice on Thursday for adults and on Friday evenings for juniors at the ground and during the winter, hold regular indoor net practices at Wymondham Leisure Centre.
However, there's much more to Hardingham than just the cricket. The past couple of seasons have seen successful and popular end of season tours to such cricketing hotbeds as Cleethorpes, Hastings and Bournemouth that have provided great entertainment both to those who went on them, and to those who have heard stories about them!!! Rightly proud of the social side of our club, we hold popular and often quite riotous Start of Season/Mid Season/End of Season Social evenings at the club whilst our Annual Presentation Dinner held after the close of the season is a consistently popular, well attended and entertaining event.
If you're interested in what you've read about here, please have a look around the website to get a feel for what we're about as a club. We are always on the lookout for potential new players of any standard, as well as social members who want nothing more at the weekend than to watch some cricket with a drink in their hand. Contact names and numbers are available so if you're interested, then please get in touch.
Apart from the competitive standard of cricket that we play both on a Saturday and Sunday, and the very real emphasis on the social side of the game as well as the actual cricket, we are fortunate to have facilities right up there with the best in the Norfolk League.
Aside from the picturesque setting of our ground, these are a number of our other facilities:-
- An excellent/well prepared square; Dale Watson who we brought in at the start of the 2009 season has done a tremendous job on our square and 2009 saw excellent sporting wickets that gave encouragement to both batters and bowlers. Early indications for the 2010 season is that once again, the square is looking fantastic.
- Sightscreens at both ends of the square.
- A large and mostly even outfield.
- A very sound financial situation coming about mainly through our Licensed Bar.
- Two concrete Practice nets; both matting and the other a mobile net that allows us to have square practices during the season.
- Our own Shower Cabin.
- The clubs own bowling machine paid for by the club and for the use of the club members.
- Mobile wicket covers bought this season.
- Plans continue behind the scenes for new changing rooms hopefully to be started in time for the 2010 season.
